Kym Dominique Ferguson is a poet by birth, a theater performer and filmmaker by training, and a producer by nurture. For over a decade he has serenaded Montréal and international audiences with his blending of spoken word poetry and theater.
He successfully produced and performed his first one-man show to a sold-out audience back in August of 2015: The Born Jamhaitianadian. Kym is also a radio show host on Soul Perspectives since 2012, a show which talks about the issues affecting the Black community in Montreal, across Canada and internationally. He is currently working on the development for his first theater play: The #DearBlackMan Project, officially commissioned by Black Theater Workshop.
This was a true Caribbean reunion, in content and length. We contemplated Kym’s passions for comic books, his relationship with his father - his superhero; his Haitian and Jamaican roots, his art, and the many stories that brought him where he is now.
Throughout the conversation, Kym invited us to listen and follow our voice.
It was an honor to discuss with such a vibrant and powerful soul.
During the show, Kym mentioned some books by Dr. Nnedi Okorafor. You can find Dr. Nnedi Okorafor on IG to find all the books referenced during the episode @nndediokorafor
