Mr. May - Kym Dominique-Ferguson
May 11, 2023
May 11, 2023
1 hr 27 min
Kym Dominique-Ferguson is a poet, writer, theater performer and filmmaker, a radio host, and a producer: frankly, a true Renaissance man! More importantly, this year, he is Mr. May. Yes, Kym is Laureate of the month of May for the 2023 calendar of Black History Month, under the theme Out of Darkness, Into the Light.
It is such an honor for us to showcase such a force in the black community in Montreal, and to see the fruit of his labor being recognized and rewarded. During the show, Kym shared with us how important it is to seek what is truly ours, to believe in ourselves, to shoot our shot! It was so fitting to have Kym as a repeat guest on the podcast.
Kym took us behind the curtains of the play BLACKOUT: The Concordia Computer Protests 50 Years Later which is being put out this spring. Our brother is officially a published author!
His The #DearBlackMan Project, is getting closer and closer to completion, as well as his novel.
For over a decade Kym has serenaded Montréal and international audiences with his blending of spoken word poetry and theater. He successfully produced and performed his first one-man show to a sold-out audience back in August of 2015: The Born Jamhaitianadian. Kym has also been a radio show host on Soul Perspectives since 2012, a show which talks about the issues affecting the Black community in Montreal, across Canada and internationally.
